Obviously Vimm's has their own message board. CD Romance has quite a bit of conversation in the chat section. I am sure you've done the same but if you don't know where to go, some the 1st place I would recommend is PSX Place. I backed up all the games on the Pi just in case. I have listened to instructionals for a few years now but nothing ever really sunk in until I started playing around with it. Since basically the end of last year, I really started hunkering down & I started learning this crap. I did get in contact with the guy from Gold Store and he added me to their group but that doesn't do me any good if I don't know what they are talking about. Just like having too large of a physical collection, there CAN be too much of a good thing and way too much of the stuff I don't want. So, I've been sitting on a little machine that I could have done a whole lot with, frustrated for the garbage this guy put on the machine for that amount of time.
The guy I bought it from left me with nothing as far as instructions or even the basic instructions as to how to operate the thing. It had a pretty messy "dump" to say the least. I also have a Raspberry Pi 3B+ that I've had for 5 years now. The guy I purchased from on Ebay never got back to me when I asked him if he had recommendations as far as tutorials as to operating everything because I didn't have a clue and I still am very "noobish" on that stuff. Somewhere in there, somehow I messed the part up with the Gold Store & because I wasn't the one who installed it I wasn't able to join their FB group. I tried transferring from Vimm's but I had no clue what I was doing as far as the files go. I bought a jailbroken PS3 SS with 4.89 HEN, multiman, basically the works as well as the PS3 Gold store on it where you're supposed to be able to DL the games right to the PS3 via the net but the ones I did this with had no PSN "key". I'm not trying to be rude by saying that, however, the reason I can say that to you is because I am in the exact same boat as you were when you wrote your review. I don't think you should have left him 3 stars because you don't know what to do, technically that's not really his problem.
